"You 828 doesn't have any mic inputs so you do need a mic pre."

This is incorrect. the guy has a 828 Mk2, which has 2 mic preamps on the front, together with individual phantom power (48v)

these pres also have insert points bfore the digital converter. i'm not suggesting that it is a the best solution, but you could use these and purchase a good compressor instead of a whole new channel strip. just a possibilty...

I owned a Avalon 737 and now I'm looking out for a 6176 UA.
Those tools are REALLY GREATS and if you can afford dem you will work with both good pré-amp and compressor... It's a invest for sure, but if you're planning to be a good producer you're invest for life fam!

Big up! from the W.I.

Ok me and my partner are planning to put out our own mix tapes(cd's) starting in Jan. 2005. untill the we get a good buzz and the understanding of the business more and some better funds to maybe put out real cd later. Rigt now our plan is to get something good(mic and mic pre amp) and just use the money we might make (or not) to get maybe something a little better later or towards putting out real cd. Well right now we have a motu 828 mk2 with nuendo and waves plat. plugins. I have a marshall 2001p condesor mic as of now but i had that for about 4 years and i think the vocals sound kind of thin but i plan to use it as a reference of how the other mics im looking at stack up. I would say that we'll have about 2000 dollars to spend maybe a liltt more by 200 dollars. I was gona spend about 1000 on the the mic and maybe 1000 on the mic pre amp. Right now im looking at the Rode k2 mic(699). I have did a lot of research on this mic and really look forward testing it. If i like that mic ima get it and (tba) mic pre amp and see how the vocals from mic to the 828 sound compare to the mic to the (tba) compressor. With out the compressor settings being turn on if i think i like the compressor ill keep it. Well since ill be moving to Atl in under 4 months ill check out all this at the GT center. Maybe yall could give me some more mics to check and some good mic pre amps with compressors on it (im go with one of those)
Well i have 2gees so throw me some combos
