2500 - who will is going to hold it down for the 2500?
4k - 4k - who will is going to hold it down for the 4k?
60 - who will is going to hold it down for the 60k?

Maybe not about competion but more about creative use of the features in each machine.

I feel what you are saying rockstar, a lot of people don;t really know what their gear is capable of, they get by on just what they need from it and if a new need arises they thing they know the machine and that it can't do it, but there might be something in there that can get it done.

Right now producing is in a fad stage (Anyone who got into it in the last 5-6 years say hi ) in fact the 2000/Xl was the first MPC built with the ametuer and affordability in mind. so it's fall out from the technology becoming cheaper.

A lot of people just want to buy the new shyt. there are people who just love drum machines and want to mess with the latest technology, and that's fine too, they help fund the new gear for the rest of us.

My problem with newer gear isn't people buying it but where it seems to fall short in obvious places and they should have known better.

in fairness the 2500 is one of the few pieces I've seen that doesnt have any obvious drawbacks like that.

I was happy with the MPC 60 for 15 years but after having killed 3 machines I switched to the 4k...My music is not better per se but the workflow is smoother so I can crank out tunes faster. Mostly I use the MPC as a sequencer / Drum machine /Midi mixer...since I don't sample and loop vinyl, my situation may be diffrent than a lot of you guys. The higher sampling resolution is a plus as well as the larger storage capacity but I worked around that years ago by purchasing an outboard sampler. As far as the actual "beat making" process goes, the MPC 60 was evey bit as good as the 4k. Q -link is about the only feature that changed the way I make music between the 60 & the 4k. It allows me to do more midi mixing "in ther box" than with CC messages. It's also nice to not break down once a month though....

Very true. I tried the 2500 for the first time today. It was nice. (looks even better in person). But untill something happends with my XL, I still don't need it. I didn't see a single feature in it that makes me need to sell my MP. If my MP broke, I would probably buy another used XL. For me, I'm comfortable with what I have. I tried (not owned) the ASR-X, ASR-10, SP-1200, 60, 3000, 2000(XL), 2500, and the 4000. I'd probably always use whatever particular machine I was comfortable with.

That's true,cause in the long run 2000's(xls),1000s',and maybe even the 3000 will drop giving those that want an mpc the chance to snatch one up cheap.

I will say this about the 25000 though,i like the fact that is has the dvd/cd burner/rom on it,that would definitely come in handy.But it's something that's not a neccesity.Also the hard drive(i think) which is also not a necesity.

Yeah, we all buy the house that is just big enough for our families. The car that goes just the speed limit or looks like shit but does the job. You go for the girl who is nice but is ugly. You get the job that just pays the bills...because that is enough. You make your own clothes out of sheets...because all that matters is that it covers you...you know...does the job. You only buy the cheapest of food and drinks...like water and bread...because that is all you need. Only buy a B&W 13" TV because it shows the same show as the 50" Plasma etc etc. WTF? There is nothing wrong with buying the latest equipment as long as you use it. We always buy things that we don't use to the max. 99% of people don't use more than 10% of their machine's potential. If someone wants the MPC2500...then I have no problem with them getting it. The MPC2500 adds so much more than the MPC2000 IMHO. The USB connection and HD alone is worth the upgrade for me. That said, I'm going with an MPC1000. Why...because of the USB connection. Also, sometimes using a new machine inspires creativity.

Some things really piss me off

Like how the 1k sampler doesn't respond to/get assigned CC's for modulation thingies.

If we don't complain nothing would ever change.

GIVE me a MPC mod matrix for a keyboard and I'll shut TF up......I don't want a goddman rack sampler no.
