I forgot to mention something that I found out a few months back.
When I use the Korg SyncKontrol for Monotribe app, it broadens the range of BPM and also adds Swing amount. Sounds really good with the Volca Beats.

I believe there's also a hidden configuration setting that you can change that extends the range of the tempo knob on the Volca, to 10-600BPM instead of 56-240. (I know you can do this on the Bass, so I'd assume it works with the beats)

you access it and a bunch of other settings by holding a certain button while powering on, check the manual.

No swing though, so that definitely is a benefit to using the sync app.

Or, record the sync pulse into your MPC, sequence it, swing it, send it through an individual output, and sync the Volca's to that.

I seem to recall the SyncKontrol app for the iPhone was pretty good when paired with the MonoTribe. The swing was less than subtle though.

Finally got my new volca bass. good to have it back.
I swear this one's even fatter sounding.

It is insane how low this filter can self-oscillate. I'm getting down to like 16Hz oscillation...

Once I feel like modding my bass, I think one of the first mods I try will be a "brute factor" mod (to take the Mini/MicroBrute's terminology) by feeding the output back into the filter input.

And probably a filter input, while I'm in there.


But I think I'll leave it stock for now. got other projects and work to do at the moment.

I like that snare mod. I should solder that cap in and get it over with while I got the time.

I had to skip the mod last night. I need a larger size cap and a larger magnifying glass too. Since the components are so small and delicate, it's a better idea for me to get it right the first time, since resoldering could end up damaging the board and components.

I got another power adaptor today in the mail from that ebay seller. Now I can jam for hours without having to worry about the batteries dying. Looking forward to a nice analog jam with the Volca Beats, Volca Keys, and the x0xb0x later on today or tomorrow.

All I want to know regarding Volca Beats mods:

1) Who can I pay to do some mods to my beats?

2) How much more or less than US$250 will it cost?

3) How long will it take to get done?

PS The mods I want are, the switchable snare, a switchable kick. and for the kick and the snare to have their own outputs and the rest of the sounds can come out of the regular headphone output. I want the regular kick and my own unique kick close but not identical to a 909.

OR, just sync the volca to the MPC via midi in, record midi notes of volca to the mpc for longer sequences or record note data to the volca....

Just now, I tried for the first time, for some reason, playing my Bass with a MIDI keyboard. It's sweet playing it with real keys.

Also I fiddled around with MIDI CC's, it's nice because the CC numbers are super easy to remember. It's just counting up from 40, across the main row of knobs, then the envelope control knobs (all the knobs excluding cutoff, resonance, tempo, and volume, but:)

Also useful is CC#11, "expression". That gives you direct control of the VCA, which is a nice effect for live playing, like a manual envelope.

#49, is also cool, because it controls the gate time in the sequence, which can provide just another option for tweaking.
