LOL..... All this Chatter about Rog ..... Notice the blue pads on his machine?.... Who do you think the first person we went to was After our stuff with Aki didnt work out???? Why do you think he all of a sudden decided to come out with a new Drum machine after all these years???? Rog is a great guy but even he couldn't get the vision. Fear and Greed sometimes corrupt even the pure of heart in the end......

For all of you out there who want to know who is making this for us..... WE ARE MAKING IT 100% indy electronics company. We tried to go with all the majors but they wanted to twist our vision and give us penny's for our ideas so we assembled a bad ass team and formed a serious company so we could do things OUR way. Now that we have actually made the Thang they are all over us but we are going to stay indy........ FOR YOU wether you know it now or not.

We are not marketing but rather just having fun and making beat machines. We dont want to be a stuffy stiff corporation with bland marketing campaigns and boring product names. Our personalities and product names may be wacky but our business is serious and our product will be vicious. Hits WILL be made on it....... Never underestimate the underdog. Russell Simmons couldn't get a Record deal in the beginning and was laughed at by all the majors who called hip hop "just a FAD" and now look.

No one in the MI world has made Hip hop a priority despite it being the number one selling music in the world. It's just an after thought or a "Marketing Ploy". Do you want someone to make a machine for you who has no understanding of the music you make or rather a company of people who make that kind of music and actually come from the culture?

Thats the question you should ask your self...... Do you want old recycled ideas from old grey haired rockers or do you want new radical ideas from a new generation of people like you? Either way we are gonna do our Thang and give back to the culture that made us who we are! We gonna do our THANG!!!!

So come join the party and have a blast with this. For every negative post, we get 100 positive emails with actual constructive feed back. It's pointless to comment on our marketing because there is none. We cant change who we are and if we did then that WOULD be fake.

So either you can sit around and bash us or you can be part of an indy movement. This is a real opportunity for you to have influence in a new company from the ground floor. We plan to create REAL opportunities for our users to be apart of this whole movement.

And trust we will be ready for WAR when this Thang ship's. We'll see who's got what and who is lame then. We can take care of that live in person. It's easy to talk smack on a forum...... It will be much harder to battle a Kang with a Thang.

And I like the fact that these guys are here with us, reading the same opinions and thoughts about music and production issues... If we have an issue about the machine we know they will see it here.

Im looking to see what this thing can do. At first I was a little turned off by the name and grill and was still just looking for the linn drum. As long as it has the right features and the os is efficent, then I will check it out.right now I'm looking at the 2500, 5000, linn drum (if it ever shows up) and the thang (name is still weird). good luck to you guys either way

You guys keep mentioning that no company puts a focus on hip hop. The problem is, that's how hip hop was built. At least the beatmaker/MC part of it anyways. Companies just gave you a capable sampler (which evolved into things like the mpc4000 and spectralis) and a good sequencer.

SERIOUS SERIOUS INQUIRY HERE:

IS THERE ANY WAY TO INCREASE THE SEQUENCER RESOLUTION ON THE BEAT THANG??????

Few Things I like about this...

1) I like the pads laid out like the ASR-X.
- Too many machines copied the MPC w/ the square pad setup.

2) I like the look that all the buttons are "soft."
- I always wonder why only the pads are soft & every other button is plastic & clicky on every box I know of.

3) On board sounds.
- I have 80 gigs of sounds on my MV's HDD & even patch preview, but it is slow.
Instant sounds is what producers want when creating a beat. Having to stop 15 or 30 seconds to preview a patch in
your beat is a mojo killer.
IDEA: What internal sounds are good? Well to each his own. Why not have a couple gigs of ram dedicated to only
internal sounds & some sort of create your own on board sound that makes it simple. That can be done to a point w/
other boxes, but I'd pitch it different & have your ram counter seperate for sampling.

4) I like the names of the programs like "Old School."
- Why does every hip-hop producer use the MPC, but in every MPC demo video you see them make some bull shit
sounding techno. Support the people who use your shit!!


What I don't like is the small screen (we are beyond that now), all the lights (that is just more shit to break/ put the light budget into a bigger screen), & the video seems a little iffy.

Overall, I've made beats for years & more competition in the arena means better equipment, so best of luck to the Beat Kangz

We will look into uping the PPQ....There are always tradeoffs in hardware though.... The more you add of one thing the more you take from something else. It's a balancing act really. The more you up the PPQ the harder the CPU has to work which means less voices and if you up the processor to much the price gets crazy. We are trying to deliver a product that does almost everything you could dream but still be affordable because we cant leave the next generation of kids behind who cant afford 2g's ya dig....... Maybe we can allow a way for you to set the PPQ to how ever high you want it but like i said we limit it to make room for other features. I'll talk with the team to see if we can raise the ppq as high as possible and still keep the voice count high. Right now we are getting 64 voices but are trying to go higher.

Let me know your wishes and we'll do our best to make them happen. We can build a crazy monster machine with everything and a zillion PPQ but its gonna cost ya. Making an expensive machine with everything is actually allot easier than building something affordable because you are not bound by a price ceiling.

If the demand is there we may make a terminator machine but not if only 10 people are gonna buy it ya dig.

Keep the positive vibe going and lets build..... Maybe we got off on the wrong foot a lil lol we were just so damned amped about finally getting it out there.

It will have a 3.5 color video LCD the other screen is just for the proto.

Also we will have a software app that works just like the Thang stand alone with much bigger screens for editing and sequencing and the Hardware thang can be a controller for that as well. All the beats you make on the App can play on the thang and vice versa..... Seemless

That way you have a set up with the big screen at the studio that integrates with your DAW and then can unhook the thang and take it anywhere with you.

yes the lights have their own button. They can be set to dim, bright, off, just the grill..... It's not buried in some menu its instant with the tough of one button.
