Octave One

Octave One is a group of American Techno musicians composed of siblings Lenny Burden and Lawrence Burden, sometimes associated with their three other brothers, Lorne Burden, Lynell Burden and Lance Burden. In 1989, The band debuted on Derrick May's Transmat record label with the single "I Believe". In 1990, "I Believe" was included on the compilation Techno 2: The Next Generation (10 Records). Also In 1990, with their brother Lynell, they formed the record label 430 West Records to release the vinyl record Octave One "The Octivation EP". Octave One have remixed recordings for Massive Attack, Joey Negro, DJ Rolando, Steve Bug, John Thomas, The Trammps, Rhythm is Rhythm, and Inner City. In 2000, Octave One released their most commercially successful recording, "Blackwater". In 2002, "Blackwater" was remixed by the band with a reworked live string arrangement performed by the Urban Soul Orchestra in London, England. The single was re-released by Concept Music (United Kingdom), Ministry of Sound/Voidcom (Germany), Vendetta Records (Spain), and Tinted (Australia) in the same year.
Octave One tour the world as live electronic musicians. They are included in the second generation of Detroit Techno artists.
Mainly known for their techno recordings, the Burden brothers have also produced many recordings of House Music and other electronic genres using other pseudonyms, in particular Random Noise Generation, Metro D (with Terrell Langston) and Never One Sunday.

I think I saw Octave One using a 2000 live in the past.
Some of their stuff is nice. Love Detroit techno.

"In March 1997 the MPC-2000 took over sampling and sequencing from the Amiga and the Atari. The first track I did with the MPC was Let Me Luv U. After that I've never really used computers too much in the studio -apart from running the software for Clavia NordModular, my new fave synth later in 1999. Also Kawai 100 F came in, BassStation, Casio CZ1000, and a new mixer, Soundcraft Spirit Folio. Both The Spirits Inside Me and When No One Is Watching We Are Invisible were recorded with these equipment. "

Sneaker Pimps were a British trip-hop band formed in Hartlepool, England in 1994. They are best known for their first album Becoming X (released in 1996) and particularly the singles "6 Underground", "Spin Spin Sugar", and "Tesko Suicide" from the same album. They took their name from an article the Beastie Boys published in their Grand Royal magazine about a man they hired to track down classic sneakers.

i djed on the same bill with ron trent a couple of times in new york in the 90s.
i also liked going to his weekly thursday party on canal.
i take it he has moved back to chicago?

i believe he has moved back......been seeing more and more local events with him on the bill

Be patient for one. It'll come around. I tried selling my MPC4000 recently. I can't believe they go for so cheap now. I paid too much. As for the MPC3000 its not my most used MPC, but the sound is still amazing and better than all the ones I own. I need to get the http://www.mansell-labs.com/ once and for all.

The MPC-4000 is also really nice, the second hand prices on them are great compared to what they were new!
The 3000's also dipped in price a bit before x-mass, not sure what they sell for now though..would love the black LE though, used one a few times and fell in love.

I could probs get one if I sell my XL but I can't do that...It's a very practical MPC to have that I work very quick with.

I could never bring myself to sell my XL either. It's the one I know best. It was my first MPC.
