Whose got rid of their MPCs ... and what for ?

duhhhh i bought a maschine

I sold my MPC 2500 to get a Fender American Telecaster. For sampling I use mainly Ableton and NI Maschine. I do the bulk of my work in Ableton, so I only go for Maschine when I want that hardware style approach. So I sold my mpc for a guitar because I knew that I could achieve the exact same results that the MPC yielded on other things... but no guitar emulation will ever have the expressiveness of a real guitar.

It makes sense why people have the heart to sell their MPC500 or 1000. These things ar far from exciting.

But if you can can sell a 60, 3000, 2000, 4000, 2500 or a 5000 you are cold as ice.

The day someone shows me a piece any software that can do what any hardware sampler can do ill consider it.Im really not anticipating it.BTW i have asr10 and mpc 2000/4000.Never in my life have i heard a similar sound/tone to come from tha puter!!!!In fact when it gets recorded the hardware,wether it be samplers(any)analog synths,well anything(except live mike stuff),my ears are not satisfied.Kinda stopped me trying to capture my work.Im now using logic and mac and high end soundcard.So ill have to disagree with you f major But im glad your happy(good job on the geetar) .I wish there was a asr sound engine in my mpc..........

Even if you did, you probably didn't know it was from a computer. Every piece of music that was released in the past 10 years if not 20... has been through a computer at some point.... if every home an an mpc you could send floppies with project files instead! haha... would be dope but come on. When a beat was produced with mpc asr and all that and it gets mixed with vocals, mastered, all that shit..... it aint gonna sound like it's playing right off the mpc and other people wouldn't know either way.

Thanks my dude...but Im not sure theres anything to disagree with in my personal decision honestly. My ability to achieve equal results is something very personal to my knowledge of my own sound and my gear. Some people cannot duplicate or get a better result with computers, and thats fair enough...I dont get concerned with the tone of certain box and nuances that general listeners cannot hear so I dont try to recreate the sound of the MPC 2000XL/2500 lol. The only result I want is that the beats are moving peoples heads and they are inspired to dance, rap, sing or enjoy themselves to it. There are far more interesting subtleties that I can add to my music to give it a certain sound and feel. For what its worth I never owned an ASR-10, MPC 60, nor a 3000 so I was never able to get attached to the sound of those Machines, but I have used them enough to say that I never felt compelled to buy any of those after working on them. Everyone that ever got rid of an MPC has different reasons though....the music I personally make has never been heavily reliant on the sound nor the features of the MPC so when I got off the MPC it really didnt matter. I will say the MPC is the most fun drum machine that I ever worked with, and one of the most user friendly to start with.

I feel its my duty to pass on information thats relevent to me.Maybe no one will know the differnce,i donna care to much about that.All i can say is to my own ears there is a changing of sound.Been discussed to oblivian on many forums too.Just working right now on a piece on the 4000 and im not using any fx whatso ever.None.Dont need too.TRacked it into logic.Lost a dimention.I will have a go with soundforge(pc)later.Gotta lovely feel to the sequencer on the hardware Personally i will not limit my sound to"its gonna go on the computer anyway"idea.Just trying to perfect my production,man.My roland vs has more kudos than logic LOL: ]

Just so theres no confusion....when you pass a sample from the puter into the hardware sampler ect it adds some weight to it.right??without plugins ect.even if its 12 bits it will sound.............anyway maybe not everbodys cup of tea.

Didn't 'part' with my MPC's, still have a 2000XL and a 4000,

But the two most heavily used machines here are the 4000 and the RS7000

Usually one or the other depending on the feel needed for the particular production.

It's not a 'like one more than the other' kind of thing, wouldn't do without a MPC4000 if my life depended on it, but same goes for the RS7000.

Totally different monsters each with their own madness about em.

If you haven't messed with a RS7000, you NEEEEEEED TO!!!!!!

Oh yeah, and the occasional drop straight from the ASR-X or ASR-10.... For the grunge

Nothing will take the throne from the mpc. They can have similar features, but not walk the yard alone. If anyone with an mpc has a 5k bet they feel the same. Only a fool would get rid an mpc5000. War!
