Well my internetname has nothing to do with my artistname so i dont mind saying I spend around 5 to 6 grand over the years on music equipment and related stuff. 8)

In response to the jacking of your crib. My sh!t is def covered through homeowners insurance. Plus I always wanted to have a legit reason to target practice if a case scenario like that ever came about. Somebody's home at all times anyway.

And I've been posting stuff on line about my setup for the last 5-6 years (started @ recording.org, excellent site for all studio related stuff). Apparently my gear is outdated or something and isn't appealing to anyone anymore. :lol:

I'll take your outdated 4000, asr. ooh and I could use another 32 flat panel :idea: 8)

so what's the house layout and easiest way of entry?. address would be handy too

Over $10,000 here. mpc 2500, mpc 2000xl, roland fantom xr with all the extra cards so its just like the new fantom g6 or 8, vst instruments i have a total of 12 all top of the line each costing around $250-$300 ea, ask i just might tell which ones, lol. computer intel quad core, 4gb of ram, 1 tb of hard drive memory with three screens nuendo 3 for those who actually bought it cost $2200, yamaha motif es6, Two ssl preamp alpha channels $1200 ea, motu traveler $850, Focusrite trackmaster pro for guitar, korg micro, 2 Yamaha hs80 $350 ea.,2 krk rokit 5, korg triton rack with extra sounds very few people have the extra sounds, Protools 7.3 with mbox, stanton turntable direct drive not belt, makie big knob, lexicon mpx1 $700, one 32" flat lcd, two 22' acer monitors. a coulpe kayboard contrallers. all the cables for it cast at least $500. oh yeah last but should have been first gml 9500 cost $8500 got on sale LOL. not to mention waves mecury pack bought and payed for i stay on my grind getting tracks out. holla at me. I left some stuff out but ya'll get the point i cut no corners.

peeps that spent big g's on equipment dont u feel its a waster? specially as u can essentially do the same thing all via software that can be downloaded free ala 9th wonder making money and having a career withouth spending the 17 gs on studio?

peeps say they rather spend cash on studio rather then car or clothes or whatever but if u look at ur studio probably alot of the stuff is duplicating functionality so u could down side streamline and still have the cash for them other things.

Nah, it wasn't a waste for me. I started collecting & doing this before computers & most of you came about.

To some degree, yes. But I don't know of any businesses that look for free supplies, and s/w isn't the defacto to making your ish sound good.

Well, if folks would stop looking from the surface and get a little more educated, they'd see that there's more to having various tools to do things that otherwise can't be done with one or two programs alone.

Well, here's two sites that'll host your stuff for free...

1) http://www.photobucket.com

2) http://www.imageshack.us

Just upload your ish (and be sure to select a decent resolution size, not too big of course) and copy the code.
Then come back here and select the "Img" tag, post and you're set.

I'm sorry but, I would rather 'play' music than 'type' music. i am a hardware guy and software isn't "making music" to me. But to each his/her own. Live and let live is what I always say.

sorry, jpeg, but taxman has the right idea. i have been playing synths and recording music for 25 years. 4-track cassette and analog hybrids are what i grew up with and a lot of it is still what i use. i have protools and i love it...it makes recording vox and guitars a snap. but when its 2am and i am looking for inspiration, i dont get in front of my laptop. i fire up the MPC2000 and create. i have about $35,000 invested and its taken me a long time to get what i got. my wife thinks i am nuts, but i would not have it any other way. i am not going to print out my whole gear list, but here is my synth list:

NONE of those duplicate fuctionality (even the CZ3000 is a different kind of phase modulation then the DX21), and everything has its place. i know guys who make sick shit with just a laptop, but i simply work better with my hands on a synth...tweeking and editing without a mouse.
