I got my first drum machine when I was 16, Yamaha RX21....piece of crap, but good to learn basics, moved on to an Alesis SR16, a bit more advanced features and very good to learn on.... Didn't get my MPC until probably 7 or 8 years after I first touched one in 92...

I was touching the OG MPC 60...not really getting busy on it, just getting hands on experience....but the homie would let me get on it a few times....(lol at the VERY first beat I made on it, I made him put it on a tape for me and took it to school and showed my friends.... just a cheesy lil loop) I remember one instance, I was playing with it and for whatever reason his slider was out of wack, and I didn't know, so I tried to do something with it and...eoigfibkcvlbka.... the whole schit just turned off... I felt EXACTLY like Double K in Beat Street when old dude is letting him use the school gear and he "fried the disk".....I was like ' uh hey D... man this schit just turned off man"... he said, "you used the slider huh"...

lucky for me, it was just a burned out fuse... I swear I thought I was gonna have to give homeboy some fat loot I didn't even have...

Last time I touched that one was in 99 when dude was living with me for a minute....I was on that schit EVERY DAY!!!!!!
