And I wanna hear this on other instruments as well. What about a B3 chord or long sustaining violins? hmm... gets trickier already. all they show is an acoustic guitar. what about screaming power chords through a gtr amp with distortion?


I have to admit that Im excited about using it to manipulate audio in a new way. But Im afraid you´ll never get proper results using it on something else other than an instrument with a sharp attack such as an ukulele, harp, gtr.....

i still prefer real instruments but i feel this technology would be of great use in the film score industry .

well yes actually it will if you isolate the correct frequncy , sh1t u can remove vocals using audacity!

the direct note access ain't about isolating different instruments freq's. Its about the possibility of editing diffrent NOTES from a polyphonic audio recording. this thing is about NOTES, not different instruments or whatever

You can do something similar in Adobe Audition 3, but manually - and it will take waaaay longer to do!

of course. i read your other post and we both are saying the same thing basically I just coulda used better words to describe that this particular thing is not able to separate different instruments while they're both playing chords and stuff on a stereo or mono recording

the notes in the demo all have similar harmonics since it's a solo, which is how the program is able to distinguish between the notes. if you have multiple instruments playing simultaneously but playing different notes, i doubt this thing will work. it won't be able to tell which harmonics are the guitar, which are the piano, and so on.

as someone already said, don't think this is going to take a stereo song and split it into every single track. that's just not going to happen. if you think it will do that, then YOU'RE bananas.

trust me, Melodyne is not going to do that. removing vocals is an entirely different process than what is going on here.

It could be very possible that this new version will have more than one mode or method for isolating the notes. It may very well be able to separate two of the same notes at different frequencies. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

That's pretty crazy.
