Its crazy i keep saying... "gotta cop it" then i change my mind like "nope i dont need it... save the loot" yet I keep finding myself on these pages all disappointed that the release date is moved back to May (or on AMS... June). emotionally charged synth rollercoaster :D :( :o :shock: :? 8) :lol: :lol: :lol:

ALL of that is what I feel every time I visit the minitaur and this minibrute thread :lol: :lol:

Dont believe the hype. It's very cleverly worded so you assume it's not a va but I think you will find its a va synth. Output frequencies give it away. Analogue would have no problem going lower than 20 hz. Take note of the claimed analogue signal path is NOT the same as analogue synth. So it's hyped but not true analogue synth.

I know you will find it is not. :wink:

The only elements with digital control are the arpeggiator and the midi implementation. Everything else is pure analogue.

So the words "Analogue Synth" actually mean virtual synth when the actual word "virtual" is used nowhere in the articles/reviews but "Analogue Synth" is even printed on the minibrute itself??!?

I won't believe it till I open it up and try hacking it. I ain't got much net so haven't really looked at it much. My bad. if it needs warm up time it's probly got analogue VCO's. But more likely digital ones. So to me I'm looking at a va that's has an analogue filter and lfo. The VCO's and wave generator will be va and then that's the start of the so called analogue signal path. Makes sense to do it that way and it is made by autaria. They make a lot of virtual stuff. I know that some analogue circuits are in fact described as digital, but that's the engineering term and this is not what i am talking about If its programmed on a chip it's a va. if it has all the circuits for those waves, and pitch for VCO's then yeah it's not. It's the way they do engineer synths now and it makes sense. Cheaper and you got stable VCO's. It's funny cos more I read the links more I think that is in fact what is going on. Only cos they hype that term a lot. I won't say no to one like.

BTW, nice to see it's got VCOs instead of DCOs.
Dave Smith uses DCOs for stable oscillators. I don't mind them at all. But I definitely like VCOs, since I wouldn't be subjecting the MiniBrute to much climate extremes. It would end up remaining in the studio (whenever I get the $500 to buy it). :)

So May came and went and no Minibrute showed up. That sucks. although I likely wouldnt have gotten it right away anyways. but what gives on the release date?

this synth seemed dope, but i kinda stopped paying attention at some point... so this never came out!? what about the minitaur? did anyone here get one? where are all the forum reviews!? :smoker:

Coz, wtf is that? looks dope. got demos? i see u have the mf42(? is that the correct name of that akai filter joint) i wanted one of those ended up getting the electrix filter factory instead.

It's a 3 oscillator analogue synth with a raw sound! No presets or any convenient way of saving... just find a sound and track it out. The build 'quality' is fragile IMO, but it's ok once it's in a rack.

I was edging closer and closer to getting a Moog Little Phatty (I still might get one eventually), but the general consensus from owners of both was that the Neptune had a sweeter sound and a wider scope with the third oscillator and noise generator.

Running it through the MFC42 just gives it another dimension. 8)


There's not much in the way of decent demos online, but this is quite nice.
