i want midi thru because my mpc 1000 only got 2 midi outs and the people of clavia already thought it wasnt nessasary to put a midi thru on the nord 2x rack... so im already messing around... another unit without midi thru would make me have to get a midi router and that would mean even less space and more cables. not to speak about the extra dough... you feel me?

In the enormous (3327 x 1720) jpeg of this picture it shows a MIDI OUT/THRU and not a designated MIDI OUT like you wanted.
I believe Murahachibu got the answer to ur external sequencer question when he contacted Mr. Linn

Also, you can use the Evolver or any other MIDI synth as an external sound source for LinnDrum II voices.

Have you ever used a Korg PadKontrol?

Yeah the blinking lights are a bit gimmicky, but they do serve a purpose. I found that it was nice to see the lights trigger exactly when I would touch the pads. It is also cool for playing a complex pattern, it makes it a lot easier to track the order of the pads being played.

As far as responsiveness is concerned: IMHO the Korg PK pads are much better than the MPC pads for playing any type of samples that require a light touch like a keyboard would give. You can barely brush the PK pads and they respond perfectly. The large LED display makes it easy to see velocity also. the velocity is very uniform throughout the pads. I do prefer the MPC pads for percussive samples like drums however.

If you are going to play pads like a keyboard then the Korg PK pads are VASTLY superior. If you are going to play pads drum-kit style using one hand then the Korg PK pads are 10x better and easier to manipulate.

I know I am stating the obvious here, but the Korg PK pads are NOT the same pads that are found on the Fantom.

The best of both worlds is a Korg PK controlling an MPC. You get ultimate control really. It's friggin amazing. Load up various premade scales on the PK and assign a sample Chromatically and you are set. It really is like cheater-mode.




Now back to my point. If this new machine has MPC pads that light up like a Korg PK, then I would want it for sure. %50 for the shiny factor and %50 for functionality.

1500 is a decent price to considering pieces of chinese made in taiwan by slave laborers shets like the 2500 are 3 grand.

i dont know might have to get one, despite the loading samples from cf hassle.

I stopped by their booth. It was a non-working proto, just flashing lights

according to the rep I spoke with this piece is designed as more of a performance device as opposed to a studio piece......i wouldnt expect to see them shipping for at least a year

Who says that you can't Sample with the LinnDrum II.... Dave Smith says you

So the two 1/4" inputs can be used for either Sampling external things into it, or processing external audio (similiar to the Input Thru on the newer MPC's),
and they can also trigger drum samples, so a drummer with a trigger could trigger
beats with it (well only two )

I've also read from either Roger or Dave that it will be able to resample the Main Out's, so if you make a sick Analog Drum or FX sound with the Analog or Digital engine, you can sample that internally..

it makes perfect sense 2 me neway

all drum machines have been built for studio work this is aimed at live performance
