The Regretful Purchase List!

Have u ever purchased something u later on regretted purchasing? , controller? sampler? , monitors? mixer? , if u have can u drop the name in here and why exactly u regret buying , I've hit my first regretful purchase and I'm totalluy fuking embarrassed to say what it is , so if we make a list it might help others to avoid the sample mistake



I bought sum M-Audio monitors last weekend that fuking totally threw me , I could not beleive the bass response was so fuking poor , my cheap ass logitech desktop speakers handled bass much better, since I bought them on the road I cant be assed driving back to the town where I got them and ask for a refund ( actually the store dont do cashback ) , I'm feeling tottally ripped off ahahhaa

yea Ive done that. As recent as a few months ago. Bought some yamaha monitors....not real happy but whatever I just beat the fukers up when making beats. Also a bunch of rack gear over the years. You know when ish goes on sale and you got money burning a hole in your pocket....that usually does it.

Damn, this'd be way easier if it was a list of stuff you wish you never sold...

Think the most disappointing for me would be an M-Audio Black Box.
Don't get me wrong, I like the way it sounds and the features etc... but it's a pain in the ass to run alongside anything else when you hook it up to the pc and you can only get a half the features when it is hooked up to the pc...

Wish I'd done a bit more homework and got the proper Adrenalinn instead...

a red korg electribe, to sample with. it was just to much so i got a dr sample 303. much better, it was kinda my first beat machine now that i think about it..

^^PHEW lucky for that , I've seen them go cheap as shit and was contemplating grabbing one... not now ahahaha

E-Mu MP-7. I know some people refer to the soundset as something sent from the heavens above but... I was VERY disappointed when I first got this piece of gear. It's been 7 years now so I have learned to love it.

The Electribes are great machines, if you know what to use them for.

Kaoss Pad 2 ... ... used it twice in two years...

nice object (weight, design, build quality etc) but the pads are about as responsive as a dead dog and the usb drivers cause a kernel panic in osx

it wasn't terrible but it doesn't live up to the hype imho and it was more "phlat" than "phat"!

I got a computer preinstalled with Vista - had to buy XP for it.

That's it. I may sound arrogant, but I always do a lot of research before buying anything so I know what I'm getting.

I'm actually not terribly surprised - it is a very narrow use machine, despite all its different synth models. It is good at what it does though.

yeah that's a fair summary

i liked the polysynth machine

i liked the simplicity of the sequencer

i disliked the complexity of the sequencer (!)

i was disappointed with the SID emulation

but yeah i'd imagine it's perfect for some

a couple years back i got a Zoom RhythmTrak on ebay cause i needed a drum machine... but i re-sold it the same week i got it. i had no idea the thing was so damn big... it just wasnt worth the space it took up.

i bought the Roland sp-404 the day it came out, and was pretty bummed that they hadn't improved a lot of things [from the sp-303] like the internal sequencer still sucked, no midi out, no velocity sensitive pads, etc... but i did keep it around a couple years before i finally sold it. and i'm happy with the mpc1000 i ended up saving up for... so it was probably a good thing. i will admit that i really liked the effects on the 404 though, and would consider buying one again just for that, but only if i found it cheap.

i also regret getting the m-audio Keyrig 25 midi controller instead of just getting the Oxygen-8... the Keyrig 25 used to be known as the O2... it's like a flatter version of the oxygen8... from the pics, i liked how the knobs were laid out better than on the oxy8, but i didn't know how flat the keys we're going to be... they're so flat that it's real easy to hit another key by accident.. kinda sucks, but it'll do the trick until i decide to upgrade.

and rather recently, i found a Roland MC-303 for only a hundred bucks so i figured i'd give it a shot... the sounds weren't terrible [although very dated], but it wasn't gonna get much use around here, so i just got rid of that and made an extra fifty in the process. i then proceeded to download a zip file with samples of all the mc-303's stock sounds... so if i ever miss it... i can always just pull that up.
