Anyone familiar with E-MU audio systems ??

Am building a new PC with alot of muscle and am real interested in adding the E-MU 1820 digital audio system to do my recording and bringin the mpc and other gear into my PC ( I think it's sick based on the specs ). It also looks like a good option to stay away from the pro-tools which was my first choice but after I saw a demo on it at a show-case I really think is a waste of money unless you're a real veteran. Let me know if that E-MU system is a good option and an opinion based on what it offers - here's the link to it

Yeah, seems like a nice unit. Ever since Djames was talking about his Emu 1212m setup I got interested. He has a nice workflow in that system. One thing to note is they aren't GSIF/Gigasampler compatible if you use Gigasampler.

Whats wrong wit Pro-Tools, I ain't neva been a veteran, I had only like 3 weeks, and I know enough about it to get around and run sessions

thanks k00k, yeah I am running the 1212m with a Behringer ADA8000. it allows me to track using my 8 outs and digital ADAT I/O. The sound quality is good and the price is right! There is no problem with Pro Tools, I just think that there is a common misconception that it is the only way to go when you have higher end software like Nuendo and the MOTU package plus a few others that are just as efficient. Not to mention the grand Protools cost which ain't too bad, but I only paid $400 for the ADA8000 and 1212M together. Just opinions tho nothing more, PT is a fine multitracking system.

Yeah Djames u right, peeps really do think that thats the only way to go

No doubt pro tools is official but at the moment I dont have the use for it, I mean I could go and spend the $1200 on an 002 rack but i know am not gonna use it to its full potential at the moment, I rather take that money and buy me some Mackie or Tannoy active monitors and have some kick @ss speakers and a good recording/sequencing system. This is why I see that 1820 as a perfect option at this given point.
