TRacking out your beats on a MPC4k.. any tips? techniques?

what volume do u guys have it on at the Global screen ??

im trying to keep the integrity of my drum sounds but when i track them into my motu 828 sound card some of the tracks sound really low on volume etc and not what it sounds like, like if i just pressed Play on my MPC4k..

so i was wondering do you guys have a specific volume setting or anything.. im really new to tracking thanx peace

In a case scenario such as this, imo using your ears is the best tool you can use. But I personally have mine set @ -6 dB, others have said theirs is set @ 0, while others like -12 or whatever.

I'd suggest keepin it set to 0 and turning the master volume to roughly 3/4's. Then adjust the gain on your motu accordingly. Dont make it too loud tho cause its harder to turn it down once its recorded. I'd stick with recording at a lower volume b/c you can always turn it up afterwards!

Also if you've got digital I/O, I'd suggest taking a look at using it.

Reason...better SNR.
