What kinda records.....

Yo when it comes to samplin drums and findin drums that are easy to single out, what kind of records do you all use? I mean i was trying to go through some of ma vinyl, but it's like it's a hum in everything, and then on top of that it's real hard 2 find a drum that i can just sample out, and i was going through a lot of different genres of music, and i just can't do it, can someone give me some tips?

Oh yeah, and another thing..... I have a Stanton STR 8-30 turntable plugged into a Rolls Phono Pre-Amp, and that plugged straight into my MPC.... and when i got to the sample screen on my MPC it's this loud buzz, then when i turn the turntable on, it gets even louder, what causes this? and how can i minimize it?

did you ground your turntable?

Yah make sure that thing is grounded. Honestly, sometimes I steal drums from other producers. Like nobody has done that before. But I try to at least manipulate the drum sounds. A good producer to get sounds from because he will leave open sequences to where you can obtain the sounds s M-Boogie. I believe on Blackberry records. OR do what I've done, buy the beat packages off of this site...It's quality stuff...

Records Records and more records! Good drums can be found all over! Drum Library breaks area great source. Dusty fingers is another. Even scratch/battle records have drums for the taking all over them. Check out the battle scratch section of a rec shop. Youre bound to find some good ish.

What do you mean by is my Turntable Grounded? I know i'm stupid when it comes to a bunch of terms, but hey, i need 2 know so i can fix the problem....... Dukes, where can i find one of those drum library break records? I do remember seein one, just don't remember where

The problem is the Rolls pre-amp. I just bought the same one and the ground does not work at all. I connected the ground wire to a screw on my Mackie mixer and now it's fine. I'm going to return the pre-amp as soon as I find another one.

Really? Cuz I just got RCAs runnin into that and then out to the MPC..... I have a behringer mixing board, what do u suggest I do?

Oh, then you're really doing it wrong. On your turntable there should be a connection for a ground. Run a cable from that to the ground on the pre-amp. I did that with the Rolls pre-amp I have and it got rid of a little of the hum, but it was still there. That's why I hooked up the ground to the screw on the mixer. You should definitely ground your turntable. Do you get a little shock when you touch the metal parts on the TT?

I'll look when i get off work but just off the top of my head, i don't remember there being any other connections besides the RCA connections

MistaMike4 u have the 4k right? Then u dont need that pre amp the 4k has a ground on it and line/phono switch! U can plug yur tables to yur 4k and start samplin!

Lab... you've asked me that 50 thousand million and 1 times.... No i don't have a 4k.... i have a 2000xl..... a 2000xl....

i use newer hip-hop records for sampling my drums, i find that most of these sounds have already been ran through nice mixers, which i dont have.

I sample from anything that I actually dug for and got for 10 cents. I got mad reissues and comps, but I just like dirty a$$ records.
