What headphones do you recommend to use with the MPC?

I'm looking into buying some nice headphones for my MPC (2kxl). Any recommendations? I'm looking to buy some that I'll be happy with for the next few years, so I'm willing to spend some money. At the same time, I'm not a professional producer and am not looking to buy the best. I just don't know where to start and what I should be looking for.

I have been using the Sony MDR series for years and have always been happy. I have 2 pairs. The MDR-V900 sounds the best of the 2 but the MDR-7506's are more comfortable when I have them on for long periods of time.

Guitman is on the money those Sony's are beautiful.
I also use the AKG K240s.

The MDR-V700s have mad nice bass response.

I got MDR-V900 too. They sound pretty good to me. More important, they don't break or blow up. I've wrecked about 6 pairs of cans before i got these.

I trust Sennheiser... They have real good response in all the ranges and they are usally cheaper than most brands... For instance I picked up a pair that was like 100 bucks, but it has out performed some 300 dollar headphones...

I rock mdr 600s here. No complaints.

i have a pair of stantons, ran me about 45 bucks.
they are ok just for working but not mixing.

I use MDR-V900, but I don't use them often. If you wanna spend money on good headphones, instead I recomend buying some used monitors. Specially if you're planning to use them with your MPC, as the MPC sound is very crispy and in combination with headphones and long lissening hours, you can demage your hearing. So...be carefull with that!

for headphones i've always used AKG K240 s.
i've had 2 pairs (stepped on the first ones) and i have zero complaints.
they sound good w/ my 1K. and are excellent when played through my headphone amp.
if you try to use them on a stereo or something like that, they are a little on the quiet side, but the main volume knob on the 1K turns it up more than loud enough.

also, someone mentioned moniters...
i got a pair of Fostex PM-1 s w/stand, brand new, for $420 (yeah, 420). they are nice because they are self powered, no need for an amp. and that price is relativley cheap for their quality.

headphones are MUCH cheaper though.

Sennheiser all the way. low ear-burn and superb low extension.
replaceable components so you don't have to trash a whole set due to one driver.
