I keep on moving things around and i inevitably have cables where i don't want to. This winter, i really plan on getting my studio right with everything EXACTLY where i want it to be. I tend to add something, put it where it fits and then don't move it till i have issues, then move it, cables everywhere, i'm sure some of you know the deal. Anyway, i've been using hooks on the back of my desk and velcro, it works find but i'm looking for an option that looks better and something i don't need to buy new cables (like snakes).

Thanks, that actually helps lol

haha no problem i used twist ties to bind the extra length, the space between the false back and real back keep all of the cords and power supplies hidden. building a custom desk is probably the best thing ive ever done for my gear.
also get clasp (you can get them in different sizes its what i used to keep the extra cable from the power supplies together.)

Yeah, i noticed the claps. That's one thing that i could use. I have a similar setup with hooks but it isn't quite working out, after moving everything around, it inevitably becomes a mess. I need to "mock up" everything again, seems like 2x a year i need to uncable and recable my whole setup, i usually take shortcuts, i guess i'm going to spend the next few days paying for them.

hahaha yea i hear yea it took me one weekend to make the desk, then this past weekend i redid it (repaint, took a shelf off, took three inches off the width so i could get it out the door without taking it apart, replaced the back and false back).

if your going to recable everything i recommending doing all of the power supplies first then doing the audio and midi cables

or do the audio and midi cables then do the power supply cables.

it helps.

and you know what i spent all weekend and tonight redoing the desk and recabling it etc knowing that i have to move my stuff out between dec 19th and end of feb  but i wanted to see what it would look like redid.

also i recommend twist ties or even rubber bands so you can take them off easily where as if you use the plastic ties then you have to cut them off and its a waste.
