soundcard and programs for multiple track recording

I need input on a soundcard and multitrack program that will allow me to record many tracks at once. Possibly, 10-12 tracks at once. The 8 outs of the 2000xl, and stereo synth tracks triggered from the MPC. I'm thinking of getting the Emu 1820m and an Adat analog to digital bridge to run the 8 outs of MPC to and then use the rest of the inputs on the 1820 for my other instruments....will this work? I'm not sure what multitrack program will allow me to record this many tracks at once. The only thing I've used thus far is cubase vst 32 and I can only record 4 tracks at once. Someone please give me some helpful knowledge. Also, does anyone know if it is possible to run an effects bus on the emu 1820 for outboard efx processors etc.

Current gear being used: MPC 2000xl studio +, Korg MS2000, Roland MC-303, Aphex 204, Gibson les paul, Ovation celebrity, Mics, Tascam US-428(soon to be gone).
