ok, i have a 2000 hooked up to a stanton sa-3 and gemini xl-100

my 2000 has the effects card but no 8 outs

here are my choices

-upgrade to a turntable like the stanton str8-80 and get rid of the belt drive gemini which has terrible sound and inconsistent platter speed. This will definitely make alot of my samples sound better on the way in.

-borrow some money and swing for the 8 out card because i'm going to need it this summer when i grab a mixer (the str8-80 tt also has digital outs which would go well down the line with this). This wont necessarily help me now, but i'm gonna need it eventually.

-nab an RNC compressor (the best compressor under 1000 bucks) in order to make my samples sound much better on the way in.

-try to hussle the guy at easy pawn into letting me get a mo phatt module for 200-250 when the sticker says 399

-Save my cash, and patiently wait for my options to get better. Or worse.

-Take a trip to the record store, spend 100 or more on records and buy an ounce of buddha to smoke while i zone out.

damn, bein poor sucks...i cant make up my mind

get the rnc compressor. just ordered mine monday and waiting to get it. im really excited. its sounds like that would be your best choice being that ur not gettin ur mixer until summer so the 8 outs would be useless until then. u should just save more money and get a mixer and 8outs at the same time.

but if ur not feelin that idea, than spend about 50 on records and save the 150 to ur next future investment. peace

Yup.
Spend $50 on records...go to a spot where you can get 2 or 3 records for $1.00 too. Since you're in DC and it's springtime travel on Saturdays through Maryland and/or VA for some lawn/yard sales. You'll do better than the regular spots in the city.

Peace.

get the wax and the smoke! That is, as long as trees help you become more creative. If not, I say spend 100 on wax and save the rest!

I'm, from Philly, but I know yard sales are about to jump off all over the country. But for some reason in the suburbs and almost suburbs up here in Philly, Jersey and NY, that's where you can find some amazing stuff for cheap. Hell. You may find some insturments too.

Peace.

Yo every job I've ever had break=smoke. I've been an everyday head for bout 8 yrs. See its cool to experiment and try new stuff when your blunted, but to sit down and actually make a track, record it, mix down then master, I have to be sober. Also with working with people, cant blaze. I am 10 more productive when sober (acutally making a complete track). But I get all my technique and skills when blazed. La makes me experiment and do really unorthadox techniques and methods that I wouldnt ever try anytime else.

i refuse to spend less than 500 on monitors, especially when i already know the sound will be iffy cuz of the room i'm in

i figure i'd build bass traps and treat my room before i get some nice monitors anyway...

the two choices i'm really feelin right now are the turntable and/or the herb...

the turntables i have are 4 year old gemini belt drives with a penny on the headshell and 15 dollar needles

i think i'll just pawn the gemini's and get about 30 bucks, cop the str8-80 for about 150-175 and spend 55-80 on an ounce.
