How do you organize your files on your MPC hard drive??????

I was wondering how everyone arranges their files on their hard drives. I have an MPC1000. I saw some earlier posts about it but not many responded. I arranged mine with

-Drum Sounds (one shots of kicks, snares, etc)
-Kits (Sample CD's, loops, ect)
-Other Instruments
-Bass

Anyone have a better file structure? My friends have Big Fish Audio and other sample CDs that have loops and everything else scattered about. I figured it was better to keep the CD under ints name, in kits, and have to dig for it. Thats my main issue right now.

The Unsorted Folder on my HD is there for files I have yet to go through.... I save a lot of kits in that folder and work on them when I am not feeling creative. My sample CD's are all under Kits or Loops depending on what they are.. The Support Folder has all the electronic literature i have for the MPC, i.e. MPC Tutorials, Manuals, and the like. But this is just my Hard Drive in my MPC..... 60gb

The CF card is a mess... But that only has stuff (Programs/Samples) I use everytime I boot up the MPC. And also the current project. 4gb CF card

my drumhits are sorted just the way the manufacturer sorted them, once upon a time I tried sorting them all into categories but I prefer to leave them like they come now.

drumloops are unsorted, but the filename has all the info (artist - song) I need

drum programs are useful for stuff I use in a lotta songs, like I have a couple for my favorite hihats, cymbals and shakers, a few for for congas/bongos, a few of them for toms, a few for sound fx, etc.

inst programs are mostly synth bass and electric bass for when I don't wanna fire up the sound module, but they are also sorted by type

under the projects folders (i have one for each JJ OS, for compatibility reasons - I'd rather go back to OS1 to open an OS1 project) each project gets its own subfolder.

how do you save to the hard drive in the mpc? i normally just save straight to my CF card???? hmm confused....sorry

same as on cf card. just select drive (cf/hdd) and folder and do it.

You determine that. There is no hard drive until you put one in. I believe the maximum the 1000 will recognize is 128GB.

were can you get them from then?

You need the hard drive adapter (HDM 10) and a laptop hard drive of any size. The HDM 10 you can get from any Akai retailer (it may be a special order or they may stock it). The laptop hard drive you can get from just about any computer/electronics retailer like Best Buy or newegg.com. Or if you have an older laptop laying around you could use its drive.
