What's better for synth sounds, motif es or fantomXR.

I know both of these have good piano, string, horns etc but what about synth sounds.

i just bought the fantom s and the synth sounds are killer. don't know about the others

DAMN tough choice! I have the Motif ES6 and I LOVE it the sounds on it are GREAT but Im goin to demo the Fantom-X6 later this month I will let everyone kno what's real between the 2! But I heard that the Fantom-X piano sh!ts on the Motif ES piano! I will have to see for myself tho!

I've owned the ES and presently own the X6, I prefer the "synth" sounds on the X6. The ES has better acoustic sounds to me(except maybe the pianos). When it comes time to edit patches though(which I can't suggest enough, otherwise you're just gonna be hearing the same sounds as every other song that used the same presets), the X6 is much better to me due to the depth of the interface and how eay it is to get around. This is of course all subjective, I suggest you get down to a local music store and listen for yourself cuz everyone has different opinions about these things and the only one who will know which one will suit you better is you.

So do you think that I should get a Fantom X and motif rack would that be a good decision?

i would get the fantom x , cuz it will give you a little more flexablity in your production !

I think you'd be very happy with that combo. This is really just a matter of how you work, if the MPC is gonna be the brains of your setup it would make it harder for me to decide cuz if I'm doing all the sequencing and sample programming on the MPC then the UI of the FX only matters to a certain degree. There would be a couple of things to consider for me, first, if you go with the FX and Mo rack then you get the FX UI but miss out on some of the Mo ES sounds and functions. If you go Mo ES and FX rack then you only lose the FX UI and dynamic pads(which can't hold a candle to the MPC pads). Second, the Mo ES can be found for 1700.00 with the FX rack looking to be about 1300.00 which comes to 3000.00, the FX acn also be found for 1700.00(I paid 1875.00 cuz I didn't want to wait another month for them to be in stock) and the Mo rack can be found from 800.00 to 999.00 which would be 300.00 to 500.00 cheaper than the Mo ES/ FX rack combo. One more thing I should add is the if you don't use a computer for editing and chopping up samples the FX comes as close to it as hardware is gonna get and makes sampling a breeze. The Mo ES sampler is also ten times better than the MPC's but the interface doesn't even come close to beaing as easy to use as the FX.

The real bottom line is you're gonna love this setup which ever way you decide to go.

If you was to get a combo of the two i would get the motif keyboard and in a few months get the fantom x rack. I have heard that the x has better synth sounds then the ES but since im a good tweaker and since the ES has 250 user slots i know i can come up with my own that will do justice. Im not a real synth sound freak i mean i like them but you can really only use so many in one track with out everything becoming just loud and out of control so i feel its better in the long run to have better acoustic sounds and plus the motif es has 8 insert efx while the x only has 3 with 8 i know for all 8 tracks my sounds are gona sound the same as they did in voice mode. Another thing people talk about this board having a great piano or a bad piano...i mean its good to have a good one but since 90 percent of the people who will buy my music and play it never ever listen to a great piano in person that subject is something of a waste and only counts for people who play live.
