well, it should be the same on the rack as the triton, however, The rack does not have "sequence mode", because it does not have a sequencer, but there is a substitue mode on it, because on the regular triton, sequence mode is what you use for a "multi setup", even if you are not using the internal sequencer. but i think its called multi mode? anyways it should work the same:
you can actually only use 2 combis simialtaneously, this is because the triton is only 16 part multimberal, and since combis use 8 parts, you only get 2.****** But there are other ways around this too, ill explain in a second.
anyways, When in "sequence mode" or Multi mode (on the rack) you simply go to the menu and select "copy from combi" select either tracks 1-8, or 9-16.
some things to remember with combis:
-When in multi mode with the combis, you only get 2 tracks essentially i.e. 2 combis, however most combis are splits (as in more than one sound on the keyboard, split.) so you can get around the limited slots.
-most combis are designed for the sales man at the store, so, there are arpegiator settings, that utilize drum patterns, so you get cool drums to play your splits with, but usually they are un original, AND THEY USE up slots that other sounds could share. The problem is, you have to edit the combi to get to those slots (because the zones, and midi channels are changed) i will explain how to do this below.
Solution: turn the arpegiator off, or under the track that hat the drum program, in the "status" section, you can switch the track to internal, external, or off. I usually turn the track off-that way i can still use the arpegiator, but the drums dont kick in. Then i adjust the tempo of the arpegiator to correspond with my mpc.
-tempo of the multisetup will sometime determine the tempo of the effects that are applied to the combi, so if there is a phaser, or room effect or somethign, its effects parameters are connected to the tempo, so even if you dont use the arpegiator, set the tempo to your track.
-say there is a bass sound you like in a combi, however you dont want to take up space in "multi mode" so.........you find out what layers are used for the bass track, then copy from combi, into multi mode (like above). Go into main menu-"track parameters" look at the midi channels tab for tracks 1-8, notice that they are all 1, 1, 1, 1, and maybe like 6 (for the drums) well you can switch the instruments that are not part of the bass patch, to the original midi channel (i.e. track 5 corresponds with midi channel 5) so that you can now use that track for whatever instrument you want!!!!!!! and it will then work like a normal track, thus eliminating the "8 slots" for combi rules. you may have to adjust the effects accordingly.
-copying effects of other combis can be fun. most combis really rely on effects to turn them out differant.
-utilize the arpegiator, if you really edit the arpegiator, adn use them with your combis, you can get some nice original stuff.
-the best thing to do is to edit a preexisting combi, see how things are, then change them to your needs.
peace out, if i think of anything more i will let you know, but ive got to go now and i cant really finish PEACE!!!!!
