connecting es to mpc2000xl

I have the motif es 6 connected to my mpc 2000xl through midi, but i can't get the motif sounds to record on midi channels on the mpc--for example the mpc is set to record sequence 1--track 1 is set to record on midi channel 1a and the motif is set for midi 1a. But after i record--there is no sound on track 1. What am i doing wrong.. please help :cry:

the sound will play from the keyboard and not the mpc.......BTW welcome to the forums

you need to have your keyboard hooked to a mixer to hear it.....it wont play out of the mpc......

Midi is just data commands from one device to another

Thanks ---I have all my stuff running through a 12 channel mixer--and i did have the channel with the motif turned up. If u can think of anything else let me know

do you have the cords right......mpc out to es in and mpc in from es out?

Yeah ---I found the problem-- I had the es in the wrong mode thanks alot for your help
