I'd get a (studio) mixer, a cheap multi fx unit and a microphone. I use my mics all the time, even when not recording vocals.

I use a cheap dynamic one for everything but vocals and a cheap condenser for vocals.

If you want to use a condenser mic, you will need a preamp unless your mixer / sound card already has preamps.

It's not necesary but I think you'd want to upgrade to more than 8 tracks in the future. Effects and a compressor will be a must eventually in your career. Mic is a good investment too, and a preamp for the mic if it needs it.

Yo Beetjunkee, if you're on low budget try the Behringer B2 mic it's a cheap (220€)first home-studio mic and if you got xtra cash, you an go for a Studio Project (VTB-1) préamp... It's a tube mic/line préamp, you can find it for 350€...

Hope that'll help...
