Midi from reason to reaper

Got the following config:

MPC 1000
Reason 4
M-audio keystation 88es (midi out to midi in(1) on mpc)
Soundcraft compact 10 going out to a firewire solo
Reaper for DAW

Set midi/sync on mpc to: sync in: 1(slave), mode: off, receive mmc: off

My initial theory was that I could use Reason out to the keyboard and then back to the MPC to record synths etc and then mix it down in Reaper.

I *think* that the firewire solo is the blockage as it doesn't have any midi ports.

Can someone help me out and suggest a better way to do the above? Im thinking that I need to upgrade my interface?

I'm not sure that you can send midi to the keyboard you have through USB.. Is that possible?
If so, you'd need there to be a MIDI THRU port on the keyboard as well, in order to send the clock data from reason thru to the mpc, unless the keyboard allows you to configure it's MIDI OUT to a MIDI THRU somehow.

How I'd do it:
keyboard -> MPC midi in 1
MPC midi out A -> PC midi in [requires computer interface with midi]
PC midi out [requires computer interface with midi] -> MPC midi in 2

Then you can set MPC with Reason as either master or slave.

This would mean buying a computer interface with midi in/out on it.
