im not voting im just gunna tell you it doesnt matter what you get. id just focus on a 500 if your gunna get one thing unless you already have it.
the only downside to a s2000 is that it doesnt have a graphic display but if your okay with that its got decent memory size and 8 outputs? but other then that its the same as a s3000xl minus an internal scsi port but if your handy with the solder you can add one

Any MPC with an s series sampler is a kick ass combo.

The 8 output board wasn't standard on the S2000.

Connect the S2000 by SCSI to your computer and use Millennium or MESA.

By graphic display, do you mean it doesn't display waveforms? In other words you chop by ear with it?

MPC500 and a s2000 together = mpc 2500 (minus the jj os). 8)

 But that wouldn't be too bad of a combo if there were some added features that both currently lack.

Akai racks are worth nothing now days so don't see the point in owning a S-2000

Go for the good ish.. S-3200XL, S-6000, S-1000 and S-950

6000's are so cheap here you can pick up a maxed out 6k for like 200GBP, I paid 90 for my 3200 ages ago. You want the big screen, you want the filters and sound of the others..trust

S1000 sounds PHAT but no filters other than a lame non resonant low-pass.

If you can afford get a EMU Emax rack or some of the later all digital emulators, don't think you will go back to Nukai after that...me? I was brainwashed by Akai in the 90's lol I just need them in the rack to make me feel big hahah
