MPC/ASR10 Question

I have the MPC2000xl and the MPK49. I've seen a lot of people with the MPC/ASR10 combination. I'm wondering why they even have the ASR10 if they can sample through the MPC. Not sure of the benefits of having both, I know they're both powerful tools on their own though. They use the MPC for drums and sequencing, and the ASR for sampling.

I got the MPK49 to play samples through keys, because I'm aware of the benefits of playing through semi weighted keys. I also like knowing what note I'm hitting when I map out samples through the auto chromatic scale, to keep sounds playing in the same key signature.

Beside these reasons, is there any point of getting the ASR10? Does it sample better than the MPC? If I have the MPK49 is there any point of getting the ASR10? I appreciate any help.

I am looking at ASR10's and can say that the MPC is much better for sequencing the song, and tracks, and pretty much putting the production together. The ASR is a fantastic sampler, and apparently everything put it in gets a nice warm and creamy sound to it where the MPC can't compete.

If that's the only reason, I think I'm better of getting the S950 since I already have the MPK49. No reason for having two midi keyboard controllers. Plus I'm sure that If I stay with AKAI there will be less of a learning curve. Any thoughts?

I'll say this, the efx alone on the ASR is a cause for having one. And like was mentioned before, the sonic character of an ASR gives it a sound that's much different than a 2kxl.

I don't personally have a 2kxl, but I do have a ASR10 and it's still an amazing piece even after all these years of having it.

No the Asr10 is a "Real Sampler" like the mpc 4000 and 5000 so it has a ton of features. The chopping concept it uses is very different than any other sampler I'm aure you heard that you can sample something and chop it into 61 pieces without using sample memory because it uses data parameters. It has a ton of on board fxs and it's just a beast inside out, the sampler isn't all that bad too.
