Well Im going to change my set up and Im going to buy a real small cheap TV for sampling. I will be able to sample everything from Playstation up to the newest systems via my mixer. My trouble right now is trying to figure out how to sample NES or Genesis because there is no audio or visual cords that I can run into my mixer (you know the yellow, red, white cords). Im thinking of how to get around that? Any tips or set ups to do that?

you could also just record your game sound just like you would record vocals

put the mic up near the speaker playing the game sound put it close enough to avoid getting your room sound in there .

and if you have the model 1 genesis... you got stereo sound with the headphone output. If you got the model 1 genesis with the high definition written on it then you might even have the yamaha sound chip in it which has superior sound quality.

Here's another option: http://www.zophar.net/music.html

These are the authentic music files of games ripped right from the cart/ disc. Not some lame midi recreation, but the real thing. I've messed with the SNES files and it's associated player and it worked well. You'll just have to sample from your computers output.

well the advantage to getting the nes music right from the machine is because it has it's own fm synth built in to it and emulators and trackers are just recreating the songs with their own synth engine.

taste_testa wrote:Even better wire an audio out straight from the YM2612 chip in the genesis and get the pure signal, you can even sind signals to the chip and use it as a synthesizer. http://www.smspower.org/maxim/Documents/YM2612#overview

do you have a genesis tracker program? I would be down to try and write some genesis music code.

I think they have a 6 channel fm synth in the genesis.

top loader nes is nice.. no region lock chip in it so you can play japanese games without an adapter. you should check out doki doki panic... you might be surprised when you see that game. (I recommend youtube searching that if you never heard of it)
