Tracking question...help

Situation:
I notice when I track out/mix a beat that the MPC lowers/"cuts" the level of sounds that play at the same time (ie bass & kick, snare & clap, cymbol & hat, or any combination for that matter).

Question:
Is there any way to work around this without having to track sounds one at a time?

Is each instrument being sent to different outs?
Are the instruments on the same track?
Are the levels all raised in the mixer?

are you recording to computer?
i have my mpc to the line in on my computer so the beats bang out, then when i record it i notice a lower volume because when its in the computer its considered a wav so i just turn up the wav volume up and its crackin again. that might be it.

Im using 8 outs to a mixer then to a cd burner. I dont know what the problem is. You record from MPC's Stereo out to computer line in? I'll try that way in a few days just to experiment. Thanks & please continue to help.

It could be an issue with your mixing. Maybe your kick drum is muddying up the bass..ie you need to mix appropriately and make sure each instrument has its appropriate space and not cutting into (muddying) other frequencies. ie your kick could be within that 100hz zone and your bass maybe along the same range. When they both are triggered at the same time your going to hear a muddiness and a clouding of the sounds

The only way to avoid this, that i can think of is to MIX via a mixer. I use Protools so doing stuff like this is kind of easy..i dont know how to appropriately mix a whole track on a standalone mixer...maybe someone else can help....

I think you're right about cutting into (muddying) other frequencies. I found a "mix by numbers" guide on the web and it proves your theory to be correct. Thanks a lot for your help cyber and everyone.

Not a prob...u may need to get a more advanced mxer or someting or a DAW of some kind

I just need to get better at mixing. I am using a Mackie 24/4 board, so I know that isnt the problem. Thanks again.
