STANTON T92 TT- Help with the Sound Quality

Hello everyone. I own a STANTON T92 USB Turntable and I am unable to tell if the sound quality is up to par with regular turntables. When I play it, it doesn't sound very loud and I usually have to crank the volume to get a reasonable listening volume. I got rid of my MPC a little while ago, and now use Maschine ( Don't hate! ) When I used it on my MPC I went from the Digital OUT of the TT to the DIGITAL IN of my MPC and even then the levels were a little off. I don't know whether it is the Cartidge, Needle, or just the TT that is producing this low quality.

I am going to be getting the M-AUDIO Firewire Solo Audio Interface so I can go DIGITAL OUT to DIGITAL IN again, and before I buy that, I want to make sure my TT sounds great.

if you have to crank the volume to hear the tunes good it sounds like you may need phono amplification, you can find an amp online for a like $20. As for going digital in to digital out on the MPC, it should have worked and sounded good.

what cartridge are you using? I would expect its that. Same problem with the analog and digital outs? Then its probably not the turntable

The T92 is switchable from phono output to line output, so you don't need a phono preamp with it.
But it does sound like maybe he hasn't switched it to line-level output.

MG, are you going via USB to your computer (if not, why not?) or via RCA cables to audio inputs?

the reason I asked about USB is that you say you're using maschine now, so must be using a computer. If you connect the turntable to the computer via USB then you have digital signal anyway, so you don't need the audio interface. You really need to read your manuals.

I bought this deck a few months back but returned it because the torque was poor.

I would definitely use the USB for direct recording to the computer though.

the torque was poor? What about the cartidge & needle? No complaints?

The motor wasn't strong enough so I packed it back up and returned it without checking the sound quality.

I got a Stanton STR8 150, a beaten up Vestax PDX 2000 and 20 records for the same money off eBay. The 150 is very nice.
