Question for the Tutor...and anybody else:) (Compressor+MPC)

Hi,
I've been doing a lot reaserch on compressing, and find out how important is that, but I would like to know how can I hook it up with my MPC2000Xl?, where do I plug it?, do I need to buy a mixer??????????, or maybe buy 8 outs board or something?. and at last what are some of the good compressors for hip-hop

You don't need a compressor for a MPC. What are you trying to accomplish by doing that? You would normally hook one up to the inserts on a mixer. All the good compressors cost a lot of cheese. Learn how to make your music bang on it's own, and in time you will understand what compression really is and if you need to use it or not. When you get to recording vocals, compression will be a necessity somewhere in the process. That has nothing to do with the MP, though. Just for kicks, here's a short list of my favorite compressors. I use a compressor to squash drum sounds on the way in to the MPC when I sample them. I go straight from my turntable mixer into the compressor, then out of the compressor into the MPC.
I use a HHB Fatman Compressor (TL Audio Fatman in the UK.)
It's a pretty inexpensive stereo tube compressor, you won't get tube compression at this price anywhere else. It's a decent compressor to learn on because it has "presets" as well as manual mode (the presets were designed by Pink Floyd's engineer.)
The presets are labeled with different instrument names, but experiment, because I don't always use the "correct" preset to get the sound I want.
It's also nice because if you turn the compression "off", you can still use the unit as a tube preamp to give your sounds a little "tube love."
