cunning tactics

I need your opinion guys, my only equipment is an mpc and monitors (and a chunk of vinyl)

which setup?:

1) ADA8000, emu 1212m and behringer ub2442fx mixer with cool edit, 8 outs into ADA, lightpipe into emu track in cool edit, monitor from mixer fed by emus outs. £575

2) emu 1818m, connect 8 outs directly into the emu, track in cool edit and monitor on the ub2442fx, the 1818m also allows direct connection from a turntable, allowing me to sample straight into the computer with out a pre-amp mixer. £590

3) ub2442fx with mbox and midisport, 8 outs into mixer, get a good mix, then record two tracks at a time into pro tools, sync'd with the midisport to the mpc. £640

4) screw all that and get me a DPS12 or 16 off ebay £500ish


thanks in advance, how do you track your music?

also I'm not even sure if I need a mixer, It might not even be neccessary?

And skip the mixer and get yourself a control surface with motorized faders and some knobs to control your levels.

The 1818m comes with that sofware sampler right? Why not run it with Cubase or Protools instead of Cooledit?

yeh, the software is an extra £80 but is prob worth it, I've just been reading its review in sound on sound, looks good. to get pro tools tho I would have to get the mbox also cubase would cost me extra £££, I already have logic and cubase as an option, sometimes you have to use c r a c k e d software tho :roll:, ain't got money to burn, thanks for the reply

cubase sx and m-audio firewire 410

or ableton live 4 and m-audio firewire 1814 (when they are both released)

or flip flop either of the two mentioned above :)

Actually ProTools has a free version for pc that works with any soundcard. But if you already have Cubase that would be a powerfull setup with the 1818 and it's sampler.

pt free don't work on xp which sucks, I would like to try it before buying it,

I want to utilize my 8 outs too in response to matey about the m-audio unit

anyone else have an opinion?................................
