New MBox Released

Guess they got tired of how the mbox's looked? :lol: No huge changes to the regular mbox from the mbox 2, except how it looks really. Apparently now the regular mbox supports 24bit 96khz, instead of 24bit 48khz like the mbox 2. I don't really see the need for 96khz for music production, but I guess it's an option for people who hate hard drive space. :lol:

Better sample rate - and added soft clip I think, nothing wron with updating your harware but -

meh - at least its USB 2 which is better certainly - but Digidesign hardware has always been poor, hopefully this is an improvement, but I wouldn't hold my breath - the first generation Mbox was the best LE interface there was - until now maybe? :?

Their stuff's decent, but by no means the best. It get's the job done either way.

yes it will be different in qulity wise.. but its just AVID trynna get there feet into the actual music production market. they took over digidesign so now there guna make their own stuff their way.. looks like a motu firwface if you ask me..kinda ugly.. ill stick with the digi003!

^^^ Maybe I was wrong in believing Avid was the parent company to Digidesign way before this image campaign took place.

I'm talking about going back some ten years or more. :?

I like this design and color scheme better than original, new mbox pro looks real nice, but the price tag kills it for me

You never know, this could be a sign that they're probably on the verg of releasing version 9 of the s/w to coincide with the new-look h/w.

Avid have owned Digidesign for 13 years now, Mboxes have simply been rebranded and tinkered with slightly to reflect the dropping of the Digidesign name.

Pro Tools 8.2 is on the horizon - but few improvements are slated for LE however - most of the improvements are HD - primarily for the HEAT plugin and the new HD interfaces and the introduction of the HD Omni interface.

Yeah, it's up there in price. But it's also got 8 analog inputs. The Mbox 2 Pro only has 4! Not to mention other shit like onbaord reverb and such. So...

My only problem with the Mbox 3 Pro is no S/pdif!

^^^^ hahaha you're actually right... i caught a laugh off that because off a lil weed smoke...

my original intentions were to post about the soft clip feature you guys were discussing above and how it's mentioned to allow hotter signals... but my thoughts on that being that its still 24 bit processing you could still achieve the same reults with older boxes by running something like a comp or limiter during the recording process???
