Anybody here using an MPC and Virus b combo? If so, do you sequence in MIDI and keep the Virus in multi-mode or do you record the sequence as audio and trigger with the MPC pads? It's so much easier working in Single mode on the Virus and with the 24 note polyphony I'm finding myself sampling to the MPC and playing back with the pads instead of MIDI.

when using the virus it is best to flip the keys instead of trying to sample it in the mp.........24 note poly is something you should expect from a virus mane......

I have the Virus KB. It is best to use the multi-single mode instead of the multi mode. Just try it and you will see what I am saying.

I set the 16 channels-up on the MPC to match the 16 channels on the Virus. Then I play the Virus so the MPC can record the midi. I don't think this is the very best way though.

I like to use Cubase SX and change the patches from the single mode. I use the MPC to record the midi so SX can record the audio. With this way, you can add compression before it goes in the SX. Also I use my own TC Eletronic reverb and delay units with a Trident S20 pre.

Most keyboards don't have 16 stereo outs for the 16 part multitimbre. So I just use the single mode and record the audio in SX.

Do you use the MPC to change your patches on the Virus? Or do you transfer the arrangement to the MPC and play it back into the Virus to initialize the patches? The later way is how I used to do it but I'm getting sick of all the overhead. That's why I just sample as audio now. I keep the MIDI track and just mute it in case I need to make changes. Maybe I have to try using multi-single mode instead. Thanks!
