Will we ever see another MPC

I have a funny feeling that the next MPC will be some sort of half-assed bug-infested software monstrosity by wAkai. Likewise, as is the pattern with wAkai: they will rarely provide updates to this software, and every bug will remain present until wAkai decides to release the [we gone] Soft MPC version 2.0 for a higher price, with tons of new useless mediocre features. (Rinse & repeat several times or until they go bankrupt or decide to merge into a conglomerate with Beat Kangz, where they will release the M.Pee.Zee aka the BeatKangz Beat Stainz the first hardware beat making machine that will actually turn out to be another mediocre piece of software that no one will use).

Or they might also try to copy Native Instruments and make some sort of hardware controller with proprietary software pairing. It will probably be like the Maschine, except it will suck (that is, if you like Maschine) or suck even more (if you don't like Maschine).

I could be wrong, but that's just prediction.

akai wont go bankrupt they already were bought up and merged with numark, plus their midi controllers are selling well, not to mention they have a whole division for tv's and elctronics

the tv company isn't the same as akai the music company... they are seperate and no longer affiliated from what I understand.


And I dont see them doing anything really new or anything that requires any type of budget in the R&D department. That is why they re-released several alesis products (discontinued ones at that) and designs with the newer akai paint job. The RPM8 monitors for example, the miniak synth thing, the mpc5000, that non sampling drum machine (the black and blue one), do I need to go on? haha...

Like it or not software is the now and forever. I see a computer based "mpc" comming down the road. With a interface built into the midi controller(drum pads). And the ability to intergrate vsts. You dont just walk away from a money making business. You step back, re structure and release something ahead of its time yet again..

I feel for all them MPC 5000 owners............Theres gonna be alot of snide drum machine erupting into Hadoken fireballs in the near future.

or you concentrate on making APC controllers for someone else's software and MPD/MPK controllers

that has far lower R&D costs and less software involved, so fewer chance of bugs

thats cuz they charge too much for shitty quality product....either bring your prices down or step your quality control game up

To be very honest, there's still enough very decent quality DIY options or small craetive companies that make some pretty good sounding and creative gear to not be interested about the business ventures of a huge company like akai....

The smaller companies is usually where the innovating products come from anyway....with usually good support
Plus, there's is sooo much "old" gear second hand that you can pick up for waaaay less money than some of the newer gear that comes out that's worth shit.... that goes for any audio gear not only mpc's ...

You just have to be able to see and hear the difference, and only get gear that inspires you in one way or another... not always the NEW thing with all the bells and whistles...

I would say the same, except I think roland probably still has room to put out some of those keyboard work center things... those are kind of different though.
