Fast Track Pro Problem?

Hey, has anyone got a FTP?

I'm having problems recording from my M-Audio Nova. Basically, it's not recording anything and only shows a tiny bit of signal.

Phantom power is on.

I bought it second hand so I'm really not sure if it's broken or not.

I read somewhere that I should plug it into a power outlet rather than let it be powered by USB but it didn't come with the power cable and I don't have a spare one.

Help me, please!

just so you kno, Pro dont stand for Professional in this case but for Problems


1) did you disable onboard stock sound card ?
2)did you install drivers prior to plugging in device ?
3)have you tried unplugging and plugging back in while running ?


providing more details about your setup would shine more light on the issue...

what kind computer you using, what os, updates such us service pacs etc.

im running windows 7 on an acer laptop. i have recorded from my dj mixer so i know the audio inputs work. maybe it has something to do with phantom power but ive used that mic before with a ua25. maybe the mic is broken??? i recently got it back from a friend who borrowed it

in general im not happy with my setup, though. i get lots of pops and clicks especially when i play midi

and i cant seem to run ableton and serato at the same time... not smoothly anyway

I think clicks and pops you speaking of is most common issue with this interface I read about. you pretty much ruled out the inputs being blown by running tt's thru it. sounds like the mic might be jacked up or something.

if I was you though I'd prolly try to score a better interface eventually.

when running serato and ableton simultaneously can you check how that laptop is behaving as far as system load is concerned...maybe the cpu is not keeping up, need more ram...maybe you experiencing usb latency ?

you need the power adapter plugged in to use the phantom power. i had one for a week before i decided i didn't like it. got a mobile pre instead. mic is way louder...

so any recommendations for a windows 7 friendly (tried and tested) audio interface???
