You can get a used phatty in mint condition for that price,unless you just want to buy new

not a bad idea on moog's behalf, but as far as desktop synths are concerned the dave smith mopho has this one beat with the pricetag only being half of what moog's charging...

2 fairly different sounding synths. The desktop Mopho isn't so nice to program without the software editor though.

of course they sound different... they're 2 completely different synths by 2 different brands... but they are both analog desktop synths which are targeted at the same market. regarding the editing of patches though... have you ever used a little phatty? it could use a LOT more knobs/control on the front panel as well... the interface really isn't that much better than the mopho... just sayin.

I sold my Tetra because it was a **** to edit patches. The good software editor was like $30 bucks or something so i just used it standalone. It isn't that i couldn't edit with it, it's just that it was so draining, by the time i got shit i liked i was creatively exhausted...

i wouldn't get this though. the real lil phatty is the same price used, it looks like they just removed the keyboard and put out...

I already own a digital synth with a keyboard, this would make a nice addition without taking up to much space.

I've owned both. Kept the Phatty. Got the original Tribute Edition that was released first (with no USB) and it's cool. You don't need to flick through menu's to edit different parameters, everything is there in front of you. I got tired of the Mopho desktop pretty quick because it can be an arse to program without the software. It is good DSI made software editors for the Mopho and Tetra but personally I prefer not to have a computer switched on at all

If I was gonna go for a DSI desktop synth I'd take the Evolver. That thing sounds crazy.

Another desktop synth I'd recommend checking out though is the Dark Energy. It's just a lot of fun to play with.

Looks more like a concept than a finished product. But as ever knowing Moog it will be top quality. Just get those wooden panels on the side and it will be complete

Yeh it looks pretty decent, hardly revolutionary, but if it's a decent pricepoint I'd certainly consider investing in one. I've wanted some of the Moogerfooger pedals for a while, so this would make a very valid alternative.

Yeah at this price point, I would go with an SE-1 or ATC-1 before I messed with this joint. The whole appeal of the little phatty for me was the fact that it had keys and made for a decent priced monosynth keyboard with midi.
