pro tools and MPC

any info on using the MPC to trigger sounds from Pro Tools 8.0.1 plug-ins?

that was a good link. BUT....
I did ask how I could TRIGGER THE SOUNDS! I am well aware of midi and how to 'sync' the MPC to Pro Tools but let's say I wanted to use the MPC to TRIGGER THE SOUNDS that are in a plug-in. How would I set that up?

I have a Pro Tools template for beatmaking with my MPC2500.

My MPC is connected to the midi-input of my audio-interface. On my MPC i have made a few instrument tracks, each of them with a different midi output and the name of one of the virtual instruments i use in Pro Tools.

In Pro Tools i have made corresponding instrument tracks. Same name, the virtual instruments i want and the same midichannel.

The individual outputs of my MPC are routed to the inputs of my audio-interface. I use the MPC for my chopped samples and drums (audio) and for playing my virtual instruments (via an M-audio keystation connected to the midi-input on the MPC).

I use the MPC as my sequencer.

This way i combine the best of both worlds, it works great!

i make beats in my mpc 2500, then midi it up to pro tools to track it out.

you can also just sample sounds out of pro tools into your mpc or chop up sounds in pro tools export them out as .wav 16-bit 44.1 files, then usb import them into your mpc (that is if you have a newer mpc with usb)

yea i gotta do this, i gotta get some kind of midi keyboard though, maybe an axiom 25 or 49

What interface do you have? If you have your mpc midi'ed up to your interface, then all you need to do is setup midi in pro tools, create and instrument track with the module you want to trigger and press the pads. If you follow the link above to setup midi up the MPC, then you're good!

It is, you can play the instruments using your MPC pads. I prefer a keyboard for playing synths, piano's etc...

i've got a m-audio fast track ultra

cool im gonna give this a go tonight.
I've been usin the mpc1000 for almost 3 years now and i know it in and out making beats tracking and mixing them.
i've never really messed with sample packs/midi instruments etc that much before though. i either sampled from vinyl or just played the guitar/trumpet live.
I'd like to learn though as i feel its important to know more about the field that you enjoy to be as versatile as possible.

i've been listening to the dangerdoom album lately and dangermouse does a lot of sample based stuff but he can also do both, no samples and also mixing them, this will be a good start for me to delve into this side of production and maybe i'll eventually pick up a midi keyboard!

okay i got it setup but i cant figure out 1 thing and its got me trippin lol

anyway i cant make more than one sound
for example: i have an instrument track in pro tools with xpand on it using channel 1, same on mpc(1a), this is working fine

so then i was like yea and made another instrument track in pro tools and then tried to assign that one to another instrument using a different midi channel but it just replaces the original sound

i thought putting another instrument on a separate instrument track and midi channel would work but no.

maybe i have to have a separate instance of xpand running, but that would seem weird because on it it has space for 4 parts
