Is Ableton Live worth the money?

Anyone here use it? Whats your thoughts?

I've had it for years but just recently started using it for DJing. It's mad easy to DJ with LIVE. So simple it pisses me off.

I love it. Brilliant interface, simple, logical, and thus inspirational.

yeah I know a guy who been doing that for a good while now... he uses a padkontrol or some kinda 16 pad usb controller to turn on and off effects and shit.. plus he uses this little controller with a few vertical faders as volume controls for a few of the columns in ableton. The icing on the cake... it's all battery powered and literally it takes him under 40 seconds to turn on and push play and under 15 seconds to unplug from the rig and it's back in his backpack. on the table it takes up maybe 2 square feet of table space... that shit encouraged me to build a quick to set up rig... I am not nearly that fast but I keep it in mind now... not that I dj but sometimes I need to spin stuff outside.

Powerful program! If I was doing more mobile work (beat making) I'd certainly cash out the money for it. Might do it anyway sometime soon.

I prefer Logic Pro for serious arranging, but Ableton Live is one of my favorite programs of all time. You can't go wrong with it. I would say for time stretching alone its worth every penny and thats just one feature of it.

Ah, I would say get the MPC500 and that would be worth it.

If you get Ableton you'll look like a cockroach looking at a screen in front of your girlfriend, then she'll get second thoughts about you and leave your ass! At least with the 500 you'll look like you're doing something and your girl will look at you the way she does Justin Beiber.

I wasnt feelin it at all.... at first. I just started to really get into it and I like it a lot. It made me wanna go out and get an MPD32. Hopefully I wont be adding a reply to the 'who's gotten rid of their MPC' thread.

I use it to get ideas down quick. I like how everything is drag and drop. Its not very cpu efficient because its designed so you can make changes on the fly without stopping. Its not good at linear recording its strength is in session view. No other daw has that feature...It also can use vst's and au's. Only the newer daws do this. Ill probably get stoned for this but the sound quality is ehhhm.... I know I know, turn off warp...still...
