mpd or pad upgrade

hey ,im not sure if this is the right forum for this question or not , but anyway, i have an mpc 1k with a set of pads that are gradually declining in sensitivity, ive wanted to get the 180$ pad upgrade for a while but it dosent seem to be available anymore, i wnated to kno if anybody could advise me , should i just get one of the mpd s to do thetriggering or should i try to get a replacement set of pads, if anybody could give me pros and cons, i found a replacement set of pads on ebay for like 80$ but i also saw that the basic mpd goes for like 90$, seeing as how the nu set of pads would just give the original set of 1k pads that arent great to begin with i thought about just going with an mpd, advice would b appreciated

the thing about using a MIDI controller with the MPC1000 is that i don't think you can use it to access the menu functions... in other words, let's say for example that you wanted to LOAD a file, you can only do MODE+PAD3 on the MPC's pads... because going MODE+[PAD3 on the MIDI CONTROLLER] won't work... so you're going to need to keep that in mind when making your decision...

Probably not a big deal, but note repeat doesn't work with an external controller either.

nah i knew i wouldnt be able to do that stuff with the midi controller, really , the controller would only be to trigger the samples , i guess i shouldve asked if anybody knew whether the mpd pads are equivalent to the 2ks pads , my pads still work , i just want to avoid additional wear and tear on them especially when just practising, or when im starting a beat, and im tryin to bang out my chops anyway thx for ure replies though

that's actually a good idea to save wear and tear on your pads.

Did you try calling mpcstuff.com? Someone recently mentioned that they called and they actually did have the pad upgrade in stock even though it wasn't showing on their website.

A good friend of mine just (2 weeks ago) got the pad upgrade from somewhere in England...sorry I don't know where but he found it, so it can't be too secret.

This needs to be done to every MPC 1000. It's a joke before them, and actually usable and nice after you get them.

think akai is on its last legs unless they listen to the userbase with regards to the mpc

it'll leave a bad taste in your mouth but it's better than an mpd.

armen got the new pad upgrade on ebay for the fraction of the price of a used blue mpc

MAN... what if you only had sold that 1K, added those 300 bucks and copped a used 2.5K?
