Bought Rode NT2-A. Good preamp?

Im working with Pro-Tools Mbox and just bought the Rode NT2-A mic. Im really uneducated about all the mic preamps/ phantom power.

Im looking to be guided in the right direction. I need to get something for the mic to begin recording vocals.

What's your budget and do you want clean or colored?

i made one and it's awesome (i used 2 jlm99v wich double the price but i've heard it's awesome with opa too)

Whatever you decide to go for, just make sure you stay away from those cheap "starved plate" designed mic pre's.

And like mp3 asked, your budget is what will determine what you can afford.

API...Great River...Grace Design...are some of the more upper scale mic pres that offer single channel versions of their premier pre's if you're on a budget.

Im willing to spend some dough on some quality. Would like to utilize the mics potential but at the same time nothing over the top.

I was using a dynamic mic (Shure sm57). Im working with a dude of mine now on projects. Gotta step the game up a bit now.

You didn't answer the questions homie. there's a million choices all up and down the price and tonality spectrum.

If you chose the Rode because of the price, then the amount you spend on a preamp should be near the same price range, IMO. You wouldn't run a 200 mix through a $1500 Avalon normally.
