syncing mpc with reason

ive run into a problem syncing syncing reason with my mpc. i want my mpc to be the master and reason to be the slave. ive got everything set up right so that when i hit play on my mpc, reason starts playing in sync (same with stopping, changing cursor position via step/bar buttons, etc). the only problem is the mpc wont seem transmit record. i want to be able to trigger record from the mpc and play notes on reason via a midi keyboard and have reason record in sync. anyone know what the problem might be?

ps: this is not a "use reason as a sound module" question. i dont want to transmit any midi notes via the midi cables, just midi clock info

to be honest i have researched and worked on this probkem several times, im fluent with the mpc and reason, but was never able to get the record button to trigger from the mpc with reason, pro ktools and cubase have no problems, its an issue within reason i believe, all my midi controllers can trigger record but not with the mpc, my work around was to custom overwite pad 4 on the mp to trigger record in reason, just right click the mouse over the record button and click overwrite, press "find" and pad 4 on mpc, thus triggering that way
