crazy balls

YO!! i got my turntable hooked up to some preamp,hooked up to the 2500, and from the preamp to 2500 i have STEREO RCA quater inch jacks..... so now you know the set up


HERE IS MY Problem (noob is a dumb word)
when recording a SAMP! from vinyl, i have to turn RECORD GAIN, and MASTER VOLUME all the way up to hear it, but its not to loud, almost soft and with a lot of humming. when i turn down RECORD GAIN i lose the humming but with that i lose the ability to hear the vinyl playing.
When i twist my rca adapter jacks the volume will raise or go down or somethin dumb like that....so now you know my problem


HERES MY QESTION
should i go beat up the lady at radio shack for sellin my bad RCA cables? or should i beat her up for telling me i needed STEREO RCA jacks? (i dont know these are problems, just my theory) should i have bought MONO RCA JACKS?

OOOOOO almost forgot, when recording in stereo i only get sound in the right headphone, when recording in MONO L i get it out of both, is this normal??????????????????????????????????????? (.) (.)??????????????

As far as i know you have to use mono jacks.
I have got a similar problem with these stereo jacks... Just wanted to record from the mixer to soundcard. When i use mono jacks the sound is normal, with stereo jacks you cant hear anything. The only way to hear something is to pull the jack 1mm out of the slot, you know what i mean

you bought correct jacks (mono) to me sounds like your preamp is not doing its job..or you hooked it up to wrong inputs on the preamp...im also under impression you didnt ground your turntable hence the humming noise

turntable is gounded to the preamp, anything else i have too ground?

the preamp did come with cheap rca cables would that matter?

mono jacks are correct, but stereo ones should work fine. the difference is that stereo has 3 contacts on the cable and mono has 2 ... maybe it's just not making good contact. do you have an other guitar jack or something you could try out just to see if it works?

no extra jacks, ill just buy some monos and see if that fixes everything

yeah sometimes you gotta bite the bullet..

but at least cables are always something you need more of. trust me, one day you will be back to that store getting 6 more.
