MPK49 Blank LCD Screen

I know this isnt an MPK49 forum but i have no where else to ask this question. I recently purchased a pad upgrade by mpcstuff for the MPK49 and i installed them following a how to video on youtube. After everything was done my screen on the keyboard is blank except for 8 lit up squares. I cant get any words or menus to show up and im wondering if anyone would know what the problem is. There are no disconnected ribbons and everything seems to be in place inside.
