Get the E-MU EMAX working ...

I just bought an E-MU EMAX Rack-Version, not the keyboard. Everythings fine and the display is also working. BUT: It seems that the OS, which was also delivered in the package, isn't working. Everytime when I start the EMAX and put in the diskette it says "Disk Error".

Now the question:

I found something like an "Emulator" for the EMAX, wherewith I want to burn the downloaded OS on floppy. Which floppy drive does I need? On some pages they say the EMAX reads only "DS/DD" but where I get a floppy drive for this and also floppys for a good price?
Incidentally, some people say I need a midi-keyboard to control the emax ... But I finally want to control the EMAX with the 2000XL. Is is necessary to have a midi-keyboard for the EMAX ?

you need a floppy drive with jumpers....they should not be too expensive

alternatively you can replace floppy drive with HxC Floppy Emulator....no more floppies

I've seen this HxC Floppy Emulator but it's expensive as hell ...
Do you have maybe a link for the drive "with jumpers" (Don't know what that means sry my english is not the best ) and floppys who are working ?

Edit: Does nobody know something ? I don't want to buy something wrong =/

i imagine the easiest/cheapest way to get the OS onto the sampler is with a scsi CD drive. you can burn disk images etc. easily on your computer.

most likely his emax doesnt have scsi

the floppy model which i believe works is TEAC FD235HF

jumpers are plastic bits at back of floppy drive, this photo is just an example....



maybe you can join the emax yahoogroup...I imagine there more info there about replacing floppy drives, jumper settings
