Ive been considering picking this up since its so cheap, but I think Im falling into 'how good can it be for so cheap..." syndrome...
So does anybody have this or have any experiences with it? Besides the organization of sounds, Ive yet to hear a bad thing about it, like at all. But its also old, so I was wondering if that sounds aged well or if they just sound dated and pathetic today?
To put this into context, Ive sold like half my gear since it just wasnt going with my flow, so Ive got around a grand to spend. Ive got currently a MPC4k (trying to sell it to get a 5k, which ive had and miss now) a z8 (only reason im considering getting rid of the 4k), and a Korg EMX1. Oh, and a Akai DPS24. I dont have a computer, nor am I looking to get one for more than aksys on the akais (I use a laptop right now which works fine for when I need it) I produce all sorts of stuff, from rap (older styles, large pro and all that) to dnb and just kind of whatever comes out. Im really just looking to get my bases covered here. My big philosophical decision right now is a few smaller modules/synths vs. one workhorse va (most likely a snow ti, though since I dont use computers that seems kinda wasted). From what ive gathered thus far, im leaning towards the ns5r, novation ks rack, a waldorf q or pulse and...possibly a 2080/3080. I figure the z8 would cover all my instrument stuff, though I dnt know how realistic that is. My other thought is to go simpler and just get a blofeld and a virus b.
Im laid up on 3 weeks of bedrest right now due to an injruy, so ive got almost too much time to think about this. But I figure yall are way more knowledgable than me, so I was wondering what yall thought. Gracias in advance.
