problems syncing mpc with cubase sx2

This is really pissing me off now. I am having trouble syncing my mpc as à master with cubase which is the slave. I can control the jog wheel but i cannot record anything and nothing moves i can hear audio from my mp and cubase always says LOCK 30. My mp is set to 30 and not 30D so Whats the problem?? Please help a brother out as i want to actually record some shit in cubase already. Do not link me to the official akai guide as I've tried it. This is prob something really simple.

what mpc do you have?

Double check those time code settings. Is external sync checked on? Is your MTC input and source squared away? Is Cubase MTC and clock output turned off? Do the settings on the MPC correspond with Cubase? Frame rate is part of it but that's just one part out of many. It seems like cubase is getting a signal it just doesn't know what to do with the time code when you hit play.
