Pro Tools 8, Mpc & Reason 5 Latency

What's up y'all. Are any of you guys experiencing latency with this setup? I'm using MTC, slaving the mpc to PT. I use a 1 bar pre roll and have my buffer size set at 128. It seems like my MPC sounds are coming in on time, sometimes but the reason sounds just won't sync right. The hi hat especially comes in a tad late, sounding completely off tempo. Are any of you experiencing this or have any tips on how to get the latency low enough to record, I'd gladly appreciate it.

Sounds like a computer issue. Being that reason automatically adapts to the pro tools session tempo and buffer size when in rewire, the reason sounds should hit pro tools just as accurately as the mpc sounds.

What interface you use? Also, what version and revision of Pro Tools are you using? And is your MPC coming into the interface via 1/4" or s/pdif?

Mmm, actually mean to say I was using beat clock & it seems to have been a problem with that. I would record 3 of my tracks and when I get to like the hi hat, the timing would just be completely off. Readjusting the buffer size would fix it, whether i turned the buffer size up or down. It was weird but it seems to have been a problem with beat clock. I switched to MTC, & that seems to be holding up way better. I haven't got this error. I'm using Mbox mini & using my Motu Ultralite as the midi interface, until I can buy one of those dedicated usb midi joints. Can using two soundcards, in this manner cause some midi trouble?

It's possible the 3rd part midi interface is causing the issue. Maybe try upgrading to a regular Mbox that has built in midi. Also, if recording at a higher buffer helps, do it. The latency you hear is only playback latency during recording and has no effect on the timing of what's actually being recorded. So once you finish recording, everything will playback in time even though the track you are currently recording may be out of sync with what is already recorded. I just wouldn't do this with any live recordings like live instruments or vocals, which will throw the performer off. But for tracking pre-produced music, it's fine.
