hi, im running mpc 1000 (jjos 4.99) and have been having a few problems with my synth. basically its a crappy one i picked up (for 10$ or something) old and knackered and feeding a lot of wierd hum into my setup. so, i have decided to get a sound module for synth sounds instead.
i have located a boss ds330 for what seems a pretty good price ($30ish), but the lcd screen on it is not working. it seems to me though, that all the screen really tells you is the number of the voice, the midi channel you are using, and whether or not youre putting reverb, delay etc on the sound.
i just want to check the first two of these will appear on my mpc screen; with my current synth the name of the sound currently used shows when i open the program change box (and i can change it) and the midi channel is right there next to it on the main screen. if this will also be the case for the boss ds330 (and presumably any synth module i midi link up to my mpc [?]) then it doesn't matter if the screen is broken on the ds330 and i'll buy it. if, however, i don't have a visual display telling me what voices are playing/linked to what patch numbers, then it will be a nightmare.
i'm also getting a lot of hanging notes when playing sequences with lots of midi information, but i think this might also be linked to the rubbish midi keyboard i'm using because the mpc works perfectly in every other respect. does anyone think that getting a better quality midi keyboard to tirgger notes in my sequences my solve this problem?
thanks for all the help,
cheers
Al
