s1000 / s1000 pb anyone?

I just scored a s1000 off of CL for 75 bucks and the dude said for 25 more he'd throw in the s1000 pb. (got em both for $100) they both have newly replaced lcd lights and shine bright as ever. they also have scsi cards and expansion. Im feeling pretty good about my purchase though... i know these machines are no 900/950's.

found one cat on youtube who posted a few vids a using a s1000 with a mpc60...anyone here got some music i can hear that they have made with one of these samplers?

from what i read some people say these sound similar to mpc3000 and others think they have there own sound going on. In any event, no one has said they sound bad.

wonder if anyone has ever tried to midi one of these up to NI maschine......if i can get the sound i want outta it. maybe i can replace the mpc2k with it.

This will be my first time owning a akai s series sampler and any experience or light you can shed on the s1000 is appriciated.

S-1000's sound ace in a Akai way in that it's no American sampler but the 1000/1100 are probs the best old rack Akai's, they do have their own thing indeed.

Listen to the first garbage album 70% of the ish on there is coming from a S-1000... They were used on pretty much everything in the 90's.

They piss on the S3000 series in terms of sound imo and again shit on the MPC-2000/XL
Can't stand the 2000/XL, it sounds muddy and cack esp compared to the MPC-60

I will keep my MPC-2000XL as I do love it but I can't wait to replace it with a 60, borrowing my friends 60 is not good enough I want my own lol

I wouldn't mind a S-1000 but I already have a 2000XL, 3200XL, EPS-16+, S-5000 and probs soon a MPC-60 so yea..

I too own a small army of samplers mpc2000xl , mv8000, casio fz-1, zoom sampletrak, NI maschine, and now 2 s1000's.

I been lovin the maschine as of late...if i can midi the s1000's to it and freak em how i wanna then i'll prolly sell the 2kxl and the mv8000.

The S-1000 is fairly easy to use once you read the manual and get your head around how programs/key-groups/samples work.

There is a S series thread somewhere on this forum, have a look through that.

Much like the MPC's over the years they haven't really changed in therms of OS... The OS on the S-1000 is pretty much the same as the one on the newer 3200 just that the 3200 has some small added things but the basics/feel and looks are all pretty much the same and the same could be said the other way round.

So a tutorial on a S-3000 would help even though you have a 1000...the basics are all pretty much the same, pages pretty much look the same and all the options are all in much the same place.
